“This was the first step in our journey as a team. The coach increased our awareness of issues and challenged us to change. She addressed very sensitive topics in a positive manner so that we could discuss issues openly.” CLL Workshop participant

What is Team Coaching?

    • The overall goal of Team Coaching is to engage the team in cultivating respectful and trusting relationships, and to create a culture of team cohesiveness, resilience, innovation, and high performance.
    • Team Coaching is a transformational, reflective process that engages the team in awareness, learning, development and improved performance. It shifts the focus from individual performance to team performance, “I to We”.
    • Team Coaching draws and builds upon the creativity, strengths and insights of individuals and the collective team, creating collective wisdom.
    • Through powerful questioning, visioning, experiential learning opportunities and tools, the coach works with members of the team to enhance their awareness of who they are as a team, their collective values and purpose (their why). Team relationships, interactional expectations and conflict resolution strategies are explored.
    • Based on this enhanced awareness, the team defines its priorities, sets measurable goals, and identifies actions and accountabilities.
    • As a result, the team is engaged in their own quality improvement because they’ve been involved in defining what is important to them. It works because it’s the team’s work; they are thinking, learning and growing as a team.

Designing the Coaching Process

Working with the client, The Coaching Lens co-creates and customizes the Team Coaching process to meet the unique needs of the team and organization. This approach ensures the best fit and builds trust and ownership of the work to be done. One of our most important roles as coaches is to create a safe and trusting environment where the team feels comfortable being vulnerable. The process must be fluid, flexible, and dynamic with the coach facilitating and engaging crucial conversations as they emerge.

Team Coaching Assessments

        • Examining the Tilt 365 Team Profile as a group allows a clearer view of the balance of character strengths and behaviours on the team and how to move towards a more cohesive, resilient and agile team

2. Pre and Post Team Measures

        • TESI: Team Emotional and Social Intelligence Measure: individual team member assessment of 7 team core skills including Team Identify, Motivation, Emotional Awareness, Communication, Stress Tolerance, Conflict Resolution and Positive Mood (group interactional activity)
